When is now?

This might explain one of the therapeutic powers of music, in that it helps people keep track of time (music therapy has been relatively successful for Parkinson's patients). It seems like this, and music's ability to sequence actions (each note anticipates the next, which is why you can play a memorized piece from start to finish but it's hard to just start at a random place) can be really helpful for certain mental conditions.

I'm currently reading Sacks' Musicophilia book.
